“Whatever It Takes!”
Lake Grove School is a residential, non-sectarian, not-for-profit childcare agency licensed by the New York State Education Department and the Office of Children and Family Services. We provide special education services and 365-day residential care to students between the ages of 12 and 21 who are behaviorally challenged and learning disabled.
At the Lake Grove School, our goal is to assist in the development of social and academic skills required to make our students more productive citizens, helping them lead more fulfilling lives, and preparing them for successful transitions back to family, school and home community.
The services provided by Lake Grove School are highly individualized, and viewed as integral parts of a continuum of care designed to ensure that each student is given the opportunity to achieve his or her full potential. Many of our graduates go on to nearby universities and community colleges.
Lake Grove School also assists non-college bound graduates in developing transferable job skills, leading to permanent job placement in a variety of fields.
Our Philosophy
The Lake Grove School sees each student as uniquely capable of enjoying a more productive and satisfying life through educational and treatment programs that stress academic achievement, character development, and the achievement of personal goals. Regardless of activity, location or time of day, Lake Grove School students are provided the structured environment, support and external feedback they need to successfully achieve their goals. As students progress, the level of structure is gradually reduced, encouraging students to develop greater independence by relying upon internal rather than external feedback regarding the quality of their endeavors.
Helping students who are learning disabled and behaviorally challenged demands a special level of attention and teamwork. Lake Grove School’s professional staff has the specialized education, training and expertise required to deliver individualized solutions for students with complex learning and behavioral issues
